With the release of World of Warcraft Classic some months ago, I’ve been casually playing it most weekends (until the nostalgia eventually wears off). One of my work colleagues happens to run the guild I’m in, and has been pestering me to write some guild management addons. Having no experience with WoW modding, it piqued my interest.

Since I’ve been playing a rogue, I found myself constantly having to re-apply fresh poison to my weapons, a necessary but tedious chore. With my recent foray into addon development, I realized this was the perfect opportunity to /scratch my own itch. After all, my creed dictates to automate the heck out of anything that makes me work less.

Poisonator is a lightweight World of Warcraft Classic addon designed to help rogues keep track of their weapon poisons and enchantments.

Poisonator Timers at the top center of the UI show the necessary information.

How It Works

Poisonator creates two small frames at the top-center of your screen, representing your main-hand and off-hand weapons:

  • When a poison is applied, the poison icon becomes visible
  • The timer counts down showing how long until the poison expires
  • The charge counter shows how many hits remain before the poison wears off
  • When no poison is active, the frames remain hidden

Installation

You can download Poisonator from my GitHub. Simply extract it to your WoW Classic addons folder and you’re ready to go.

The addon does what I need it to do, but feel free to modify it. If you’re a fellow rogue who’s tired of manually tracking poison timers, give it a try!
